Character Information
Character name: Tino Väinämöinen (which the last name on itself is mythological, but that will be explained later)
Nation: Finland
Age: 20
Gender:Wife *Hit by Finland* I mean Male
Appearance
Height: 5’5” (or 170 cm)
Hair/eyes: Pale blond hair that just curls in and parts mostly to the right/ A very purplish-blue that seems more of a bright violet in light
Notable Features:Finland’s complexion would be almost described as a natural, snow beauty. He has a rather feminine appearance that puts him to a point that people mistake him for a woman at time.
He likes to wear a cross on his neck; however, this doesn’t mean he ways wears it. His main two outfits are an old outfit he wears that is blue and complete with a white hat and an outfit consisting of a white shirt, blue ribbon, and a pair of slacks. Other clothes are sometimes old hand-me-down that were sew to fit him by Sweden and a few little strange personal items that he keeps for occasions.
Personality:
Finland has a very much friendly and kind personality. However, he is rather sniper-happy and loves a good battle. He loves to be independent and hard working –to this day, he is the only nation to pay off his war debt for World War I. Despite his independence, he is still quite attached to people and can make very long and stable relationships. His longest two of this kind of relationships would be with Sweden and Estonia who he is a somewhat wife and a best friend to respectively.
When you first met him, he is rather shy, but as he warms up and comes to know people, he becomes rather talkative. In a group, he is likely to stick to people he knows best. He is a reliable if not protective over people he cares for no matter what.
Finland is also known for being extremely stubborn to the point where he denies things that most would have given up on if they were in his position. For hundreds of years, he has denied being a wife to Sweden –and in recent times a mother to Sealand. However, he still seems to take upon both those roles no matter how much he denies them.
Mythology
Finnish mythology goes to the times when Finland was a pagan land –much like his friends to the south. Up until he became under Sweden’s control and became Christianized, Finland was a pagan, and even today, likes to believe in pagan ways.
Väinämöinen –which happens to be Finland’s human last name- is a main character in Finnish mythology. He was supposedly born with the earth and sun when the three eggs that were laid on the Creators knee broke. He became a wise old man who tried to marry a woman named Aino once. However, she drowned herself never wanting to marry any man so old.
In the end (also known as the 50th poem of Kalevala), Väinämöinen is goes away from the mortal world promising he will be back when he is needed. This point has been shown to be an echo of pagan beliefs fading due to the arrival of Christianity.
Of the gods in mythology, Ukko is the most important as being the God of Sky and Thunder –much similar to other mythology where the highest god is the one of the sky. He has a wife named Akka who is the goddess of fertility.
In mythology, birds play an important role. Not only did one lay the eggs that made the earth. They also were believed to bring the human soul at birth and take it at death.
((More will be here as I find more things out, but for now I think this will be enough.))
Sample Post(This seems like the hardest section for me, but I’ll try.)
‘I might seriously be becoming a wife’ was Finland’s thought as he was walking down the hall with a laundry basket at hand. No, he didn’t think about it often. It was just something he realized while doing the laundry.
He took it outside to the clothes’ line and hung them up to dry. He has done this task for centuries to the point that he got us to the clothes’ line and never really asked for a dryer. He could have had one at a moment’s notice if he asked his “husband,” but it never bothered him.
‘I mean I’ve done these things for centuries,’ he started thinking as he hung up the laundry that had very noticeably three different sizes of clothes. ‘No! This is… just normal. I’m just doing work around the house, as I should. It’s just what I have to do,’ he argued before nodding with it. He picked up the empty basket as he headed back inside as the breeze made the laundry flutter behind him.
Other Important Notes
While I am a constant roleplayer, I rarely roleplay as Finland. I will try hard to make sure his voice is right, so any problems anyone sees should be told to me.
Also, I’m still working on mythology, so feel free to correct. I’ve try my hardest to make sure I got correct information from multiple sources for this, and I’m still trying to learn more. Hopefully, I’ll get that down as well (not as easy as the muse, but still).
