Character Information
Character name: Niels Christiansen
Nation: Kongeriget Danmark
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance
Height: 6’0”
Hair/eyes: Gelled blonde hair, spiked to perfection. Sparkling blue eyes as clear as the bright blue sky.
Notable Features: Has a prominent, majestic brow. Almost as majestic as his package.
Personality:
* Basically the embodiment of hygge with a passionate streak. As the acclaimed happiest nation in the world, he's pretty loose and carefree. He loves having fun, loves seeing other people having fun and wants other people to have fun with him! So he likes to take the role of the dorky big bro to everybody, living live to the fullest. However, while he's easily excitable and happy, it isn't wise to piss him off. As an ex-viking, he knows how to fight, and fight hard. When the blood starts pumping and his anger rising, he will be more and willing to throw himself into battle, loving the thrill and adrenaline rush that it gives. And as a berserker, it takes a lot to bring him down once he gets going.
Norway:"The product is nice, but the salesman is noisy"
Denmark: (excitedly) "I see!!"
Source: The nice products that come from Scandinavia are…
* Denmark can be rather dense, especially to insults made by Norway. While he is not a complete idiot, he lacks what people call "common sense". This gets him involved in and stuck in troubling situations that most people shouldn't end up in.
Denmark: "No matter how I see it, you guys look like brothers. You know, the way you are weirdly scary and the way that you have weird friends. And to begin with, we're something like brothers anyway. And I'm the elder brother... GUOH!" (Is choked by Norway)

* Denmark is also rather blunt and many times cannot read the air, saying many things that may not be appropriate for the situation that he and others are in. This leads himself to get into much mischief and trouble, the result being that he gets hurt.
Denmark: Riiiiiiggght! Drinks'll be on Ice until Ice says 'Storebror!'"
(Iceland eventually gets up and leaves, pissed off)
Denmark: Oi! We were only just joking about it now! Ice!

* Denmark likes to joke around, especially when there's a chance that it will win him free booze. His love for fooling around and joking sometimes goes too far though, and he won't notice until the offended person is pushed past the envelope. Also leads him into situations where he ends up screwed.
Today is one step closer to my ambition!
Denmark says it.

* He's highly energetic and ambitious. Once he sets a goal, he's sure as hell ain't gonna let it go until he completes it... at least, not without a fight.
He was often chastised by Denmark, who hardly listens to what other people say.
Su-san finally snapped from that sort of lifestyle and as he violently left Denmark’s home, I escaped as well.

* While this has lightened up in recent years, as the self-proclaimed "older-brother" he feels like he has to protect those close to him. This protectionism sometimes leads him to think he knows what's best for everybody else, and will try to give advice and enforce that idea, sometimes even criticizing contradicting remarks from someone else. He is the type of person who is willing enough to take a leadership position, but since he is generally bad at listening to people and reading the situation, he often ends up making decisions based on what he perceives and nobody else's input -- leading to the frustration of other group members, especially when the plan goes wrong.
Mythology
Copypasta from Wikipedia until I have more time to look into more Scandinavian folklore:
In Scandinavian folklore, belief in the old gods still exists, but not in the form they show in high mythology. Some of the ones known in both forms of mythology are Odin, who is said to lead the Wild Hunt; Thor who still chases trolls with his thunder, both in this context regarded as "jægere" (hunters), and we see also Ull and Hoenir in this role. Loki, as a housegod of the housefire, and sometimes Freyja, show up. A large number of different mythological creatures (or rather races, since few of them can be considered animals) from Norse mythology continue to live on, surprisingly little affected by Christian beliefs, even though the wicked ones at times find an ally in the Devil or had problems with Christian Symbols. Nothing was surer, though, to scare these beings than a piece or steel, such as a strategically placed pair of scissors or a knife, or with salt and fire. The stories about the livings and doings of these beings, and their interaction with humans, constitute the major part of Scandinavian folklore. Even the helpful tomte, nisse, gaardbo or gaardbuk could turn into a fearsome adversary if not treated with caution and respect. Many of them blend into each other when their morals and/or place of residence are similar, and equally when one moves from one region in Scandinavia to another.

Denmark watched from a great distance as Finland was dragged away from the battlefield -- a victory prize for that young upstart, Russia. The Dane almost felt bad for his former “brother” …. he had heard stories of the cruelty hidden deep beneath that child-like face and those violet eyes, but what could he do? All’s fair in love and war, and it was Finland’s fault for choosing to stick through and through with that loser, after all.
Oh, what a loser he was, too. And Denmark felt that it was important to let him know it.
He slid, nearly skipped down the steep hill from where he was watching the battle take place. Denmark heard Norway chide him from behind, saying something about ruining his brand new shoes and outfit, and how his boss was going to give him hell for it again after the last time, but did he care? This moment is what he had been waiting for nearly centuries now -- the so called “Swedish Empire” and its mere existence was basically a middle finger to his face for so long, and to finally have it die off… well, could it get any better?
“Well, well, well. Look what we have here!” Denmark cheerfully exclaimed as he came to a full halt at the bottom of the hill, walking in full strides as he drew closer to his fallen brother. “Where’s the “lion” now?”
He knelt down beside Sweden, lifted his chin up and examined the battered and bruised face of a defeated man. He ran his fingers over every cut, every bruise, relishing in the fact that Sweden had fell, his empire fell, and most importantly, his spirit.
“How does it feel now, Sverige?” Denmark chuckled, standing back up. “How does it feel to have your armies defeated, your pride stripped off of your back?“
Denmark grabbed at Sweden‘s coat to lift him up, his hands nearly shaking out of anger. “Well, Sverige! How does it feel to have your own family torn apart from you? Huh? Hurts, don’t it!” He tossed the seemingly broken Swede to the ground, shouting for him and everybody else to hear. “Now you finally fucking understand the pain I had to go through all of these goddamn years because of you! It’s just killing you, isn’t it? To have everything just taken away! Now you know. You know exactly how I felt when you left.”
The Dane glanced down at his brother’s face, hoping to find anger, sadness, any hint of emotion at all. But there was nothing -- his face was as blank as the fresh winter snow. Denmark only got angrier, bringing down his foot on the Swede’s chest as he was lying down. “Dammit, don’t you have anything to say?! Can’t you even give me a damn answer?! Or at least a fucking expression on that scary face of yours?!”
